but seriously, or actually not, all the best music in the city is being made by 30 year olds..! made eh?

in manufactured music its all late teen - early twenties, in corporate rock its mid twenties and in independent its all late twenties early thirties!

So other'n Rumpus, Madouva and mesel', who else is due to be 30 this year?

Me (sob). And I'm getting no sympathy, 'cause all my older friends are going "thirty-schmirty, just deal with it for fuckssake", and my younger friends are going "god, you're so oooooold!".

things to do before I turn 30:
visit Stonehenge
get a tattoo
erm, that's it really.

oh jesus, my fancy paper collection needed its own bedroom at one stage, such a ridiculous be-scented size as it had grown to. Boxes were full of totally useless fruit shaped notepads, floral writing sets and those pieces of paper you folded into an envelope once you'd written your letter - which was sacrelige as you weren't actually supposed to *use* this small forest worth of paper goods.

could you eat it
edible paper. remember that?

Turning 30 ain't so bad.

I found hitting 28 to be a lot worse for some reason.

yeah, i didn't find turning thirty to be too traumatic.

it's also a great excuse to throw a big party, stay up far too late because you're "still young", and then get up the next day with an ungodly hangover because you're "not as young as you used to be".

too right I do
and nerds
and giant gobstoppers
and flying saucers
and that fizzy bubble gum mcgyver used to make bombs out of
and garbage pail kids stickers

eh, this to answer ngbblllaaaaiiiieeeetthh

and giant gobstoppers

jawbreakers! the ones that changed colour while you sucked them, so kids were constantly taking revolting drool-covered items out of their mouths to see whether they'd got to the purple bit yet. and there were constant scare stories about what a choking hazard they were.

the things we did for fun before we discovered drink...

strawberry laces
yum, strawberry laces were actually really nice, and cola bottles

I think I shall spearhead a campaign to get marks and spencer to bring out a range of strawberry laces-related sweets to go with their midget gem and peanut shaped sweet ones
yum

bars

Wham Bars
Desperate Dan Bars
Refresher Bars
Gorgoyle Bars

Thick, synthetic flavoured plastic sheets masquerading as sweets.

Burger Bites.
Rain-blo.

The best EVER:
McDaid's Football Special
(Mr McDaid lived 3 doors down from us!)

.|..| .|..|

I'm hungry now.

faces hot lips
curry chips
crun-chos - they were yum actually...hmm

aww, football special. God bless Donegal for giving us such a taste sensation. Wasnt there some banana flavoured local-tastic MINERAL also??

crunch-os

totally forgot them. HOT DOG flavoured maize grits?
What will they think of next??

Yeah, there was a banana flavour too, but they made a bit of a thunderin' ballyacks of it.

Oh there were tears in my eyes when the McDaid family decided to return to the North. Haven't had it since. :{

ahem young man

it's Crun-Chos

supposed to obviously be said like: crunchoes

but more likely to be pronounced crunchews by stupid kids

ah jaysis I really want a bag of crun-chos now
or any form of corn snack that will, by some mysterious chemical catalyst with my saliva and its many E flavourings pack itself down into my teeth with the power of superglue and then I will have to spend the rest of the day picking it out.
