Shine 3 or Shine 6 for me.

After 5 they became double-CDs so they have an unfair advantage over the first 4. But for me its 3 and 6.

3 was the one that got me into the Charlatans. I lost interest and 6 got me into them again.

Plus, Walkaway from Cast is on 6, and you know how I like Cast.

I never bought any Shine compilations. Don't know why, it was the kind of music I liked at the time, i.e. whatever British guitar bands were in the charts.
Actually, I know why: the tracklistings would only ever have a handful of songs I wanted. I either had the rest already or hated the songs.

i only had shine one, and remember it sepcifically for the box basicallely disintegrating in my hands. it must have been made out of fake plastic. it had that pulp song though which really really stood out. i bought shine beaceauese i wanted to plug the britpop hole in my collection of around 9 cd's at the time.

this is tough i is john - i look at the tracklistings, i like 4-7 songs, but then 4-7 absolute stinkers turn up, making me move to the next compilation. i might give it a rest and listen to a lightning seeds album and reconsider.

i was initially going to give out about how they had garbage on twice there. however, i was back checking the uk charts for that year, and they completely ignored the verve who were at number one for the whole of january in the album chart.

I remember going to see the verve in the point. I brought this chick that I'd been after for a while. But the gig was the most boring thing ever and not very good either. And the chick never spoke to me again after either.

ah but 'lucky man' would have been prime shine material. in fact, lucky man is almost every filler song on the shine compilations rolled into three minutes. maybe that was the problem.

i cant believe anyone likes/liked cast ever.
