were oasis actually britpop though? i'd consider them ladrock or britpunk or dadpop or wankscab or flapcrap or knobcrank ohjesushelpme!

Yeah, technically, brit pop was 1993, not 1994. I'm sure nngglebttth will have some authoritative information on this. Oasis, Cast and all that other nonsense were dubbed 'brit rock' or simply 'indie' by the nme. Pretty much ruined the word 'indie'.

Brit pop was Suede's first album, Pulp pre A Different Class, Saint Etienne and so on. They seem to be a year out.
