Best Films of the Decade (1 Viewer)

Hardly the worst. I think Charlie Kaufman is quiet possibly the most inventive screenwriter ever. I've been meaning to hire that Synecdoche, New York.

I still haven't seen a lot of films mentioned in the thread.

i'm glad you didnt. its a grand show, but not great.

Twas on TV lately and I watched it again .

It hasn't aged well.

I think it's a kind of "Who's afraid of Virginia Wolfe" kind of vibe; there is a certain thrill to watching the events unfold for the first time, but after that it's too much like a play, the setting is too confined for the screen, and it doesn't bear a lot of re-watching.

Now.............can we get back to slagging Jill for liking Garden State!

Diving bell was superb. Julian Schnabels others are well worth seeing, if for nothing els just to see how little he knows or cares about cinematic conventions, the surfer in the sky in Basquiat is a particular highlight.

Garden State is fucking shit

i remember watching that and nicknaming it detainment.

You just reminded me of the day I watched Road to Guantanamo and In this World. Road is an extremely well made film well worth seeing and worth following up by having a look at the stories of the guys involved. All may not be as it seems.

In this world is less well known but absolutely brilliant.

how does one word cloud this thread???

No Idea what that is. If you want to fight back tears of frustraition for two and a half hours try The Death Of Mr Lazarescu. The cover may have something on it saying it's a comedy. It would be if it weren't so close to the home truths about health care.
