on an unrelated note, when i was in primary school i wrote and illustrated a short story for a story competition in the local library about a turtle that escaped back to his dad in the petshop. it won second prize. i got a teenage mutant ninja turtles book. and an savings account in the irish permanent.

thats a terrapin,which doesn't actually belong to the tortoise or turtle family really. they have thinner shells than tortoises and webbed feet. but turtle/tortoise/terrapin varies depending on which country your in.

Whatever you choose, make sure it rhymes with a lot of words. This will facilitate spontaneous love serenades while you're feeding him or admiring his turtley plodding across the tank.

One thing is if you're keeping him in a tank of water, you gotta make sure the water level/pretend bit of dry land aren't too close to the top of the tank, or he could easily get out. That could be how he ended up losted in the first place.
