In order to change your existing account into a band profile you have to
login to your account.

Then you will need to click the following link, or copy and paste it
into your browser's address bar:

for some reason, it wont save as an 'artist' profile when i do this that link thingy

Clearly, you're not enough of an artist to use the link. All users of that link are required to have an Arts Council logo on their forehead and a hand-written letter from John O'Donoghue to Tom from MySpace asking nicely if he'll please make the link work. Duh. Simple.
