My dog whom is a pitbull rottweiler, blue heeler mix has been having some MAJOR issues lately. I never had a problem before, just little minor things that I would deal with and teach her not to do. I lived alone so she got a lot of attention and training from me. Moving in with my parents, everything is so much more relaxed. She can eat whenever she wants. She goes through doors before the humans (a dominance issue), my dad plays tug of war and catch with her rather aggressively, and I have asked him not to do it anymore, but he still does. She keeps biting strangers that come into the house. She only does this when I am not there and I tell my parents to put her outside while someone comes in, but they don't listen and she bit someone today. My parents think its time to put her down, but I refuse to do that. I will not kill an animal I love dearly because I somehow fucked up in raising her. I don't know what to do and this issue has been really really really stressing me out for some time. I know some specific things that are happening in my house that is contributing to her behaviors, and i keep trying to get everyone in my house to participate, but they don't, so things aren't changing. She is VERY aggressive, and is just getting worse and worse. I think the hippies at the Rainbow Gathering put a curse on her or something, because after I went to that for a day with her, she has been steadily getting out of control. I'm not really asking for advice, or maybe I am, but I have looked an awful lot of things up on the internet and have tried to put things into place, like re-establishing dominance and the pack structure but like i said, not everyone in my house is participating so it won't work as planned. I found a one on one dog therapist person that goes to peoples houses to work with behaviors and training. I really hope it works because I think this is my last option before she does something really bad and is forced to be euthanized. Even thinking about it makes me fucking bawl, I don't know if I would be able to deal with that well, she is kind of like a child to me.

Anyway, this is something that has been really weighing on me lately, I think about it constantly and needed to throw that out there somehow because I'm sick of thinking about it. Anyone else have aggresive dogs that learned to make good choices and became a nice, fun dog to be around? C'mon, please give me some hope.

Not got the experience of that type of powerful dog but my nephews Malamute has attacked and contributed to one of his other dogs deaths and then again almost killed another dog of my nephews.
Remember Malmutes are meant to be totally friendly.
He brought the dog to some dog specialist type counseller and she explained the pack mentality thing and about the malumute taken over as boss of the territory.
The malamute has to be kept seperate from the 2nd dog it tried to kill and luckily they live in a decent sized house but it still causes a lot of problems, the malamute also has to wear a muzzle when my nephew isn't around as he is the only one powerful enough to handle her in the house.
So the bottom line for you is hopefully that dog trainer can help ya and maybe when you're not around put one of the new type muzzles on, their not as bad as the old types.
