Foggy Notions & Strange Victory Presents...Final Fantasy, Aug 04, Belfast,

I'm not sure if she's been bumped off the bill due to the addition of villagers but the original support for this was a girl from Belfast called Ruby Colley. She's very, very good. One girl with a violin and a loop station. Sounds a bit like Rachel's. Basically... If you're going, get there...

Sonic Youth stolen gear returned after 6 years

Yeah, They only do one track on the Tuesday show. More on Friday. I'm listening to the new album and it's very good. Not nearly as pop as rather ripped but not as willfully obscure as things like nyc ghosts and flowers. Still my favourite band.

Help required from promoters in Dublin

Hey! I'm looking for recommendations for decent and affordable guest houses / B&B's in Dublin to suit a touring band. Thanks for any help, Barry

    Boss Hog?

I heard a rumour that they're playing Dublin around the time of the xmas ATP. Can anyone confirm or deny? Last record was weak but the two previous are still favourites of mine.

Which pop stars share your birthday

Prince and Tom Jones. And one of my favourite writers, Harry Crews.

    The New Year

I drove Chris Brokaw from Dublin to Belfast the other day. The New Year are keen to play Dublin on the forthcoming tour but haven't had any offers from promoters apparently.

    MBV Gigs

Are they playing as a four piece or is the flute player from the last tour still there?

    MBV Gigs

Of course, I mean a poor version of the band suicide. Not a poor man killing himself!

    MBV Gigs

I saw spectrum in New York recently. Missing it is not worth beating yourself up over. It felt a bit like a poor man's suicide. Looks like I'm off to Paris for MBV which should be a laugh!

What band did you see last night?

I saw Lou Reed and Cat Power in Memphis. Both were excellent and here's a thing... Day tickets for the event worked out at about 15 Euro!

FOGGY NOTIONS PRESENTS PHOSPHORESCENT (DEAD OCEANS), APRIL 26TH, WHELAN'S

I saw them play the night before last. The songs were great, the experimental bits dull and the posing unbearable

    The Night Marchers

I saw obits (ex-jehu and hot snakes) play in DC on Friday night. It has some slightly dodgy pub rock moments but it's still awesome and Rick still has the best voice in punk rock.

    your favourite band.....ever?

I'm with Wheels... Sonic Youth. First saw them 17 years ago. They were my favourite band then and they still are now.

    selling rare records

Do get rid of them quickly though. Once a band stops being popular or fashionable the value of their rare records goes down really quickly!

    Al Murray

Criticising Al Murray on these grounds is a bit like saying Sacha Baron Cohen is anti-semitic and a women hater and blah... The current issue of Prospect magazine has a couple of good articles about the relationship between the Irish and English pre and post Celtic Tiger and the rise of...

    xiu xiu

I saw them at this year's kill rock stars showcase at CMJ. Lasted 3 songs. Horrid, horrid stuff! (Sorry Sean) Mary Timony was great though. She played some Helium songs.

The first gig you ever played

School assembly hall in Downpatrick in 1989 with the band that would go on to become ash (they must have been about 13 at the time). Then the pennyfarthing in Belfast with jobbycrust and bleeding rectum (nice boys).

Les Savy Fav! Sat 27th Oct

Two supports then the headliner's show being cut short? Very very poor! Promoters must know that noone was there to see the other bands. This is not a comment on their quality but it's a fact that everyone in the room would still have been there if there was no support. Still, it was a...
