Gigs you've talked the other half into going to and they ended up hating

I love Paw! Dragline is an all time favorite. I actually got whatever the next album was too (Death to traitors?) not long ago. Don't bother with that.... I'd say Paw is more for your inner redneck than for your girlfriend. Can't imagine what they were like live.

The band you were obsessed about when you were young

The Fat Lady Sings Susanne Vega Lisa Germano - can't believe she's playing Douglas Hyde soon Pixies - they still rock. As does Nirvana Red House Painters - nearly drove old flat mate insane listening to RHP all the time Buffalo Tom - particularly Let me come over

    Jesus Lizard recommendations????!

Shot is a great album, tho' some might argue it's production is too clean....Not Albini, maybe G-g-Garth? It sounds really muscular and Yow's trademark derangement is intact. Liar is also pretty decent. Has Puss, the song that was on a Nirvana split single. Nirvana contributed Oh the guilt. I...

    Jinx Lennon

I haven't seen him live but I like that 30 Beacons of light album a lot. The lyrics are really sharp and you identify or at least recognize the characters populating his songs. I can see how people would hate him too; he's pretty in your face, not your typical singer songwriter, which can only...

Releasing Music Yourself -versus- Not Unless We Get a Deal

Here's one band's (the Dresden Dolls) perspective on trying not to go broke while doing music full time. They make the majority of the money from touring. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6885355

    AC/DC albums you must own...

Hi, the only AC/DC album I have is Highway to Hell. And I love it. But I'm not sure what other are worth getting. Any you'd recommend? And why? What other one's was Bon on? Thanks

    AC/DC fans get yourself here..

Nice one for the link. I'd no idea there was so many changes in the early AC/DC line up. There's some pretty cool other interviews on that site. Ideal Friday reading......thanks.

    Problem staying logged in

Hi, I always seem be getting logged out while I'm browsing thumped. Sometimes I get logged out when I go to the next page of a thread; other times when I go back to the General page after getting to the end of a thread. I'm using Firefox to view thumped. I sometimes get the message that...

    rarely used insults

For some reason most of the old insults I can remember were ways of describing ugly girls: wagon, (already mentioned), boot, dog, weapon. Another good one when someone is trying to dig themselves out of a hole after making a cockup of some sort and saying, "but...but I thought that, I...

bands who got record deals and were never heard from again

Have to agree, Whipping Boy and Revelino were good bands. Their stuff has aged well. The Revenants sang Let's get falling down. They were a good band too, specially Horse of a different colour. There was a second album but not as good. Can anyone comment on the Stars of Heaven (Revnants Mark...
