PS3 a big flop? (1 Viewer)

what kinda prices?

Around 25 quid from what i remember.

Fairly dismal selection of blu-ray and hd-dvd on display but when I asked upstairs I was told that they don't have enough floor space and demand to display them all, the guy then showed me the full range on a computer and they had about 30 titles for each format in stock.

Valve Software's chief Gabe Newell has unleashed a stinging attack on PS3, saying Sony should cancel the console and start all over again.

He continued: "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it'."

Its strange that Gabe Newell would so publically slam the ps3 but it seems that a few big developers are pissed off cos of the complex programming needed to take advantage of the ps3s multicore processor.

I'd heard about this ages ago but i presumed it was just xbox spin but it looks like it could be a real issue.

In the next year the ps3 is gonna have to offer something really impressive that xbox can't because at the moment their isn't a whole lot between them.

I've heard that Blu-ray is winning the HD battle overall in the states, so that might tip the tides between them, especially since you have to buy a seperate drive on the xbox to play HD. I know it's probably the same cost as a playstation (xbox + HD drive that is), but a lot of people will just want the one unit. Seen a review on Click on BBC aswell and they were saying the playstation menues are much better to use and much better looking, and it has an internet browser, though it has no centralised server for online play like the xbox has, which i think is what makes the xbox.

The porn industry has chosen hd-dvd so its all over!!! with vhs and betamax, betamax had the lead but the filthy feckers choose vhs and it won!

How much more can they fuck up!!!

According to information on the Irish version of the official PlayStation 3 website, the 60GB version of the console will launch in the territory priced at EUR 629.99 - EUR 30 more than previously announced.

Text on the "Price" section of the website also suggests that the 20GB model will retail for EUR 529.99. However, it will not be available "at launch" in Ireland.
Back in May 2006 at Sony's pre-E3 conference, it was announced that the PS3 would cost EUR 499 / 599 in Europe, and the other EU territory sites still feature these price points.

Well it doesn't matter, seeing as it won't even be available here at launch.

God I'm glad I saw the light and deflected to the dark side.
