so they're just about finishing installing the solar but there's an issue with the zappi car charger, and they've found a ribbon cable with a crimp in it and reckon that's the culprit; he showed it to me. it's an IDE cable. i haven't seen one of those in many years.

and another problem; one of the two strings is not generating. the issue was that the install was meant to be thursday before last - when the weather was awful, so the roofers had to postpone. but the inverter, battery etc. went in on that thursday, and the roofers were here friday just gone.

usually they'd have been here the same day so the electricians would have spotted the roofer's mistake but that didn't happen obviously.

the same thing happened to me when we got ours in, and ours was all done on the same day....

They got it sorted the same day hopefully?
nope... took a couple of days to resolve but i can't remember exactly how long or even what the problem actually was. It was at the start of june 2023 and absolutely scorchio at the time so we were generating anyway.

edit: just checked the stats and they installed on saturday and were back the following friday to fix the north facing string

we're getting over 3kW from the string which is working, at least, when the sun is shining from the right direction, so we're up and running well enough.
that's 8 out of the 18 panels which are working. at noon when the sun is shining, i expect we will be maxing out the inverter.

i think it just clips and can't do anything with the extra 1.2kW? ours is rated to 5kW i think.

Seems to be utilising the additional juice just fine. Can't image it being safe if it were more constant. It rarely stays over 6kwh for long up here in the northwest anyway

We only have 4.2kw of panels and a 3.6kw inverter, but right now:

Three of the 9 panels face north, so that’s as good a graph as I’d ever expect to see.

Woah that's some efficiency!

Hey can u delete my image as my name is on it.
Cheers magicbastarder
The front 6 are perfectly positioned facing the sun all day; the 3 on the back are perfectly positioned facing away from the sun all day, but at this time of year it makes very very little difference.

i'm clearly not in the clique

Any idea if the stats (which update every five minutes for me) are the average for the previous five minutes, or the instantaneous reading at each heartbeat?
