Rick Derringer

Rick Derringer has passed away at the age of 77.
In a press release, it was reported that “renowned guitarist and entertainer Rick Derringer passed away at 8:09 PM on May 26th at Advent Health ICU, surrounded by his loving wife Jenda Derringer, his caretaker, and close friend Tony Wilson (aka Young James Brown).”
With a career spanning six decades, the legendary Rick Derringer left an indelible mark on the music industry as a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and producer. As a member of the McCoys, he achieved fame with hits like “Hang On Sloopy.” Still lively and well, Derringer also worked with notable artists such as Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, Kiss, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cyndi Lauper, and Barbra Streisand, and penned hits like “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” and “Real American.”
Derringer’s legacy extends beyond his music. He toured worldwide with Ringo Starr’s band, playing with Sir Paul McCartney in their later years, and entertaining fans with his signature energy and talent. His passing leaves a void in the music world, and he will be deeply missed by fans, colleagues, and loved ones.

RIP James.
I read a few interviews with The Electric Prunes. They didn't write their two big hits but made them their own (I Had Too Much to Dream was envisaged as a C&W song). Like many old bands they thought they'd been badly ripped off and were due money. But in an era when recording royalties were about 5% and no songwriting dues due from their big hits, there wasn't anything for fight over I'd say.
This 2xCD is mostly really good w/ not many filler tracks. My phone camera had too much to dream 1000008394.jpg
