I saw a thing in the garden (6 Viewers)

I wouldn't think it was a pet more likely wild. The canal is maybe 20 foot from the window which has no glass it's a double wooden door and the ground out side comes up to the sill. I had to stop feeding birds there because it would eventually attract mice and then a great big rat would come along. Anyway I had to close the window on it because it seemed intent on coming in.

So apparently the creature more than likely was a mink. After been photographed and posted on facebook by someone it was identified. Mink farming is now illegal in Ireland since 2023 and mass culls were ordered during corona but there have been previously instances with thousands of them escaping farms.

Chough's flying into my garden now. I don't know what they're playing at. They'd be always milling around on the cliffs by me, but not actually in the garden.

Also, the other day I was cycling along there, It wasn't quite in my garden, but almost, and there was a buzzard stood on a fence post about 2m away. As I cycled up, he hopped off and flew to the next post, and again every time I drew level with him, the final time ended up on a telephone pole looking down at me pass. It was wild though, he was right *there*, I've never seen a wild one at basically arms' length.

If accurate, that's fucking terrifying.

I appear to have birds nesting in my hedge, which is all well and lovely. I've not actually seem them, the only evidence is that their flight path into the hedge appears to take them directly over the wing mirror of my car, which gets a fresh dose of shit every day.

Oh! There's a blue tit nesting near where I part the car (I think?), and a few times when I've gone out i've found him having massive fights with his reflection in the wing mirror. I've gone out to the car, seen him going apeshit, opened the car, sat in, had another watch of the violence, and rolled back into the road before he noticed and flew off.

Two Common Shelducks. Apparently not that common, as neither me nor housemate nor nextdoor neighbour had ever seen one before.
I do have an app for this sort of situation.

Very clean, lovely white feathers and a striking red bill. Must be new to the area.

I was walking home and a dog walking young lady coming the opposite way told me there's a massive swarm of bees down the road there. She thought I was passing through but the swarm is at my front door.

I felt ever so clever to to say "that's grand, they're just swarming, it's that time year".
She looked confused.
"There's a beekeeper that lives over there, theze bees are just looking for a new gaff, they're too busy to be dangerous".

And in that inimitable posh English way of not wanting to be seen to not know what's happening, while obviously not having any idea what's happening, she said "oh, ok, great!".

Anyway, thousands and thousands of the lads darkening the sky, but one can just walk straight through the swarm. It's amazing.
