it'd be very 2019.

i'm at the point where i'm wet sanding the tele body with danish oil and 1200 grit paper. it's interesting to see how much that seems to reduce the working time with the oil. it starts to gum up quickly - though i suspect it might be fixed by simply using much more oil.

That’s a good way to grain fill as well.
You can also wet sand with water when the Piece is fully dry.
I would say having done this, that while you can get a high shine it reasonably quickly wears off (compared to a gloss varnish, lacquer, shellac etc)

yeah, a high shine is not really what i'm going for. i might go to 0000 wire wool and danish oil after this, then a microcrystalline wax buffed on with the wire wool.
i've a scrap piece that's one step ahead of the body in terms of coats, so that might get the wire wool and danish oil tonight.

are you sorted for wood for your next project? i still have wood here with nothing planned for it. if you want some maple for a neck...

Sounds good. A ‘lustre’ would be nice on what you’ve put together

You know me well enough to know I’ll never say no to a random bit of hardwood! Sure let me know when you want the screws, Fret stuff!

Not sure if I'd have enough oak to make another bench top, but I don't get much use out of it, but could do a quick census of it if that's of interest? You'd need loads of clamps to laminate it though.

I’d take a few bits if you didn’t have a use for them, but I think I have a (fairly limited) plan in terms of how I’m going to improve my bench setup..

something slightly different for me this afternoon, using oxalic acid on that old table i've had for ages. seems to have done a decent enough job.

Standard white glue? Or something more specialist?
I have some hide glue here now and only will need it for the frets (as per moose/space's suggestion) so will probably have plenty left over should you need some.

Standard white glue- which seems to work fine for most of my purposes so far. Issue here was really my not flattening the back out before putting the braces on I think

Use hide or fish glue so they can be taken out easily in future but yes they do need to be glued in.
I blame you for suggesting I bring this foul smelling shit into my house.

Though I don't think I should have expected any different from what I suspect is just boiled animal skin.
