Well I thought that was excellent! Less southern gothic, more hard boiled LA noir. Looks great, Farrell's deadly in it and they've definitely managed to retain some of the weirdness. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Yeah, I thought it was great. More James Ellroy than Arthur Machen this time around. So far it feels much more like Pizzolatto's book than season one.

Yeah, no complaints. Very promising. I love the overhead/helicopter/drone shots of freeways and industrial stuff.

The news of the early reviews was that people seemed to have been shitting on it, so perhaps I was prepared for something really bad. But I thought it was quite good.

From what I can gather, it seems the critics were expecting another season 1, but the viewers are happy with the change of style. Tv critics don't have a clue generally

People have their expectations. I saw one person on twitter saying that the opening scene seemed to be referencing Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian because of the red sky.

I don't see it as that much of a change of style at all. It's a different cast and different setting but everyone knew that. It's still got the weird occult stuff creeping in, secret societies/cults, murder etc

Agree with all that. I wasn't expecting too much for some reason but I'm sold after that!
