Well from a tactical point of view do you think Shell To Sea said right lets do an action against the dredger, oh and at the same time ODonnell you go out there and sink your boat - we will say shell did it?

What if, as an example, the szeckler mentals (who specialise in maritime security and have scuba training) decided to use the cover of the 4am s2s action to attack ODonnell?

I dont see any sane person setting out to sink their own boat and thinking that somehow people will believe that ninjas did it, especially when the media completely ignored a ninja attack on Corduff a month ago.

I would doubt that Shell approved the action. More likely an out of control group of security guys, to me thats the only explanation. I dont think S2S have enough faith in the media to stage something like this and I dont think Shell would get their hands dirty enough to officially sanction anything like this in secret. More a case of letting the boys do what they must.

Well, lets be straight about it, there are unsavoury types and then there are international mercenaries affiliated to a hungarian neo nazi paramilitary gang.

It establishes that there is a force in the area capable of acting well outside the law. They travelled back and forth between corrib and santa cruz setting up their militia there.

Also, saying they work for the security company not shell is just pedantry. They are working on the corrib project, it doesnt matter who their contract was signed with. They work to protect Shell.
