I thought science was making up reasons for why things are, and trying to prove others' reasons wrong?

science is describing why things are as they are, as best we can. the scientific method is based on the principle of that which has the least proofs AGAINST it, must be the most feasible. i don't reckon you can say fairer than that.

PS it's not about proving others wrong, it's about getting to the truth.
