The Joinery Fundit Campaign – 6 Days To Go

There are only six days left for DIY arts space The Joinery to reach their fundit campaign target.

They’re still €3,555 short, so head over to if you can you help.

This is the Joinery, a not for profit, DIY art space that opened in 2008 in Stoneybatter, Dublin. The Joinery has been facilitating, programming and curating art and music events for the past five years. The Joinery is ultimately a site for experimentation – for making, exhibiting, performing and discussing. The programme consists of a non-stop, year-round schedule of events and has, over the years, included the works of some truly innovative artists and musicians. There are some extraordinary things happening in music and art in this city and the Joinery is determined to continue supporting this. There are on average seventy events a year at the Joinery and the space is and continues to be, entirely run and staffed by unpaid volunteers.

As many of you whom we have worked with over the years will know, we operate on an absolute shoestring – so many people have donated their time and talent to keep the Joinery alive and kicking. We are not a regularly funded organisation; we have survived predominantly by being self-sufficient and with some small funding from Dublin City Council and sporadic funding from the Arts Council.

Our ambition is to see the Joinery continue as an uncompromising art space in this city and this Fund it campaign will help us enact our most challenging and engaging programme to date. This programme, which will have an emphasis on event-based works including performances, screenings, exhibitions, talks and new music, will involve a network of highly ambitious and professional artists, curators, performers, musicians, writers and thinkers. The Joinery’s 2013 programme aims to build upon our reputation as one of Dublin’s most eclectic art spaces; a place that many exceptional musicians and artists now view as a second home. This programme strand will continue to support artists; providing a critical platform for both artist and audience. This Fund it campaign will also enable us to support emerging artists as part of the ongoing graduate programme, offer a second year of residencies and further expand a distinctive programme of new music by pioneering musicians from both here and abroad.

The money raised with this Fundit campaign will also give the Joinery the time to seek solutions regarding its future as an independent, sustainable art space. We need your support to make 2013 and beyond happen at the Joinery.

Thank you for your continued support and much valued input. Please spread the word and contribute in whatever way you can.

Thank you!

Miranda and Feargal.
