Community Of Independents Needs You

DCTV are looking for volunteers to be a part of the creation of their new Community Of Independents TV show.

Dublin Community Television (DCTV) has been engaging with various aspects of independent music in Dublin over the last couple of months through a project called Community Of Independents. This project is a partnership between First Music Contact (FMC) and DCTV. The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland funded us to make six short band profiles, a documentary and two 45 minute studio programmes that will explore independent music from a variety of angles and provide a resource for artists and music fans alike. We’ve got the artist profiles (Patrick Kelleher and his Cold Dead Hands, Owensie, Axis Of, Lafaro, Junior 85 and Windings) ready to go, we’re starting the edit on the documentary in the next few days and are planning to shoot the studio programmes in November.

But this isn’t where the project ends, we want to provide an opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to produce a regular studio magazine programme about the healthy independent music scene in the city. If you’re interested in becoming part of the team of volunteers that are going to continue this important discussion fill out the form on the site: www.dctv.ie/coi (we’ll need a volunteer to keep a blog going here too!). The closing date is Friday, 28th of October and we plan to broadcast a weekly programme starting in the middle of November.

This all depends on you so fill out the form and let us know how you’d like to help out. We’re going to provide some content for these first six shows in the form of the short artist profiles but the rest will be up to you. We need people to fulfill a variety of roles; presenter, researcher, camera, vision mixer, sound, social media etc so get involved and let’s continue to document this vibrant community of independents!
