The Redneck Manifesto & Somadrone – Whelans, 3rd November

The Redneck Manifesto & Somadrone have just announced a Whelan’s gig for 3rd November.

Having been at the forefront of the independent music scene in Ireland for over 10 years – aided by word of mouth, staunchly supportive fans and impassioned live shows, we are delighted announce that cult legends The Redneck Manifesto will once again take to the Whelan’s stage on November 3rd.

The influence of TRM on Irish underground music over the last decade cannot be overstated and this influence is apparent in the number of young Irish bands who clearly owe a debt to the Redneck’s distinct sound and unique song structure.

The Rednecks are an absolutely devastating & rapturous live force who perform with an infectious joy for their craft but owing to geographical constraints have recently been restricted to a handful of shows a year thus making it all the more essential to catch them in Whelan’s this November because The Redneck Manifesto + Whelans = pure bliss.

TRM have already released four modern Irish classic records in the shape of Thirty Six Strings (2001), Cut Your Heart Off From Your Head (2002), I Am Brazil (2004) and Friendship (2010)

As if being members of one of the finest rock groups that Ireland has yet produced, the quintet of Mervyn Craig, Matthew Bolger, Niall Byrne, Richard Egan and Neil O’Connor also have a plethora of solo-projects to keep them busy . Richard Egan is now well-known for his electro-influenced transcendent pop side-project Jape having released previously three albums culminating in 2008′s Choice Music Prize winning album Ritual while other notable projects include Neil O’Connor’s Somadrone and the Egan/Byrne duo Vision Air.
