The Nightingales First Ever Irish Shows Are No Laughing Matter

Well, apart from the comedian supporting them.

Darlings of John Peel throughout the 1980’s and described by John Robb as the “misfits’ misfits”, The Nightingales make their long, long awaited for first appearances in Ireland, in support of their new LP, the delightfully titled “For Fuck’s sake“.

Peelie said of the band that “Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980’s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans“. Good man, Peelie.

Along for the ride is their regular tour support the ‘anti comedian’ Ted Chippington. Mr Chippington is much touted by the likes of Steward Lee and Josie Long as a major influence, and Sounds once described him as “the funniest man alive”.
