The line up

JOAN SHELLEY (Kentucky / No Quarter)

“A Kentucky singer with Sandy Denny timbre and a clarity of tone like Miles Davis’ horn circa Kind of Blue…kinda folk, sorta slowcore and vaguely country, projecting a huge, resplendently pained serenity”

ROLLING STONE

Joan’s second album Electric Ursa was recorded in Louisville, Kentucky and marks her first release for No Quarter. It includes collaborations with new labelmate Nathan Salsburg and has garnered glowing praise from the press.

JOHN BLEK (IE)

“The Rebel County’s answer to Ryan Adams and his Cardinals”

HOT PRESS

John Blek’s Cutting Room Floor is an intimate collection of nine alt-folk songs compiled by John since the release of John Blek & the Rats’ last album 18 months ago. This solo endeavour began simply as a longing to document some songs that had fallen by the way side, but turned into a strong collection of live acoustic performances that needed to be shared.

VIKESH KAPOOR (US / Loose Music)

“Kapoor’s cameos of blue-collar life are poignant and universal: wrecked home towns, insecure employment, busted dreams. An impressive debut”.
– ★★★★ THE OBSERVER

The Ballad Of Willy Robbins, Kapoor’s concept album loosely based on a newspaper article, chronicles the brutal but hopeful story of a working class man who slowly loses everything. It was released in April 2014 on Loose, co-produced by Adam Selzer(M. Ward) and features Nate Query (Decemberists, Black Prairie), Jeff Ratner (Langhorne Slim) and Birger Olsen (Denver).
