Bodytonic’s 5th Beatyard takes place in The Twisted Pepper & The Bernard Shaw this weekend, with live performances, comedy, exhibitions and more spread across the two venues.
The Twisted Pepper makes full use of it’s multi-purpose spaces to host a range of larger shows in the field of music, comedy, film, exhibitions & workshops. You’ll see the likes of Ghostly rep Matthew Dear, NY deep house don Kerri Chandler, dubstep kingpin Benga and the soon to be new face of DnB on BBC Radio 1 Friction. Music-comedy powerhouse Nighthawks host an evening with The Ghandis, Daithi, Patrick McDonnell & more. Kormac celebrates the launch of his new EP (with a track featuring Irvine Welsh). Brownbread Mixtape hold a ‘performanc poetry bingo’ bash. There will also be installations from AV crew Le Tissier & Slipdraft, art & craft gallery from Flashlight, a display of short stories from the Dublin Writer’s Forum & much more.
The Bernard Shaw uses its rabbit warren of indoor rooms, huge outdoor yard and street frontage to host the more intimate, sweaty and sometimes experimental shows in tandem with our favourite local promters and acts. Highlights include Forward Slash’s celebration of James Brown’s birthday with The Candidates 10 piece funk band in a room that can hold 20; the boundless ideas and energy of the Loudmouth Collective; LA’s Stonesthrow man James Pants with local reps All City; Yelp.ie’s Backyard Food Bazaar, Big Blue Bus speed dating; For The Love Of hands on art and visuals, 35 metre wide murals and12Sundays host the album launch party for Cork jet setter John Daly. All of this and loads more little pockets of detail that define the Shaw will be taking place across the weekend.
