Sleep, A Storm Of Light – The Button Factory, Wednesday May 23rd

Stoner rock legends Sleep play their first ever Irish gig in The Button Factory on Wednesday May 23rd.

Also playing are forme Red Sparrowes member Josh Graham’s A Storm Of Light.

Formed in San Jose, California in 1990, the band took the metal of early Black Sabbath slowed it down, emphasising the groove rather than the grind. After being offered a six figure deal with London Records, the band recorded the mighty “Dopesmoker” a 72 minute long ode to weed.

London Records refused to release it, and after three years of frustration with the situation, the band split up. Guitarist Matt Pike went on to form High On Fire, and bassist Al Cisneros formed Om. The Band reformed in 2009, to perform their 1992 album “Holy Mountain”, as part of the All Tomorrows Parties festival, and occasionally do some touring. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see this legendary band.
