Sensoria – Angkorwat, Jinx Lennon, Men As Trees, The Joinery, 29th July

Bi-monthly experimental music night Sensoria returns to The Joinery tonight, with performances from Angkorwat, Jinx Lennon & Men As Trees.

The latest edition of SENSORIA is almost upon us and I am delighted to announce performances by ANGKORWAT, whose expressionist and disorienting electronica manages to be both sensual and unsettling simultaneously, and the almost unclassifiable JINX LENNON. Although, imagine a scenario where punk poet John Cooper Clarke and NYC dark synth legends Suicide are stuck in the wild borderlands of Cooley/Dundalk trying to make sense of it all… JINX is a true once off and should be considered a national treasure, although naturally that notion wouldn’t sit easy with him! I am also thrilled to welcome NYC based MEN AS TREES for a very rare Irish performance.

SENSORIA is a bi-monthly night held in The Joinery, dedicated to showcasing emerging and experimental performance with music at its core.

Angkorwat is a pop experiment by niamh corcoran [dublin, ireland]. starting out as a classical musician, she de-trained and started at square one, composing basic melodies on her macbook keys. this produced interesting results. influences include hidden histories, stendhal syndrome, cocteau twins, extreme moods, long wave radio atlantic 252, synesthesia, chicago/detroit, remorse, mothers, daughters.

Part punk folk poet troubadour, part gospel music energy preacher and in this own words an awful man Jinx stands at the outer edge of the periphery of the Hibernian music machine picking the dirt beneath the fingernails of fading septic tiger landscape while the larvae practise their new voices in their bedrooms in front of mirror contemplating visualisation for the mid atlantic voiced shiny ”discover me ” dream that will enable them to become new chrysalis transformation and escayyypp. JINX LENNON FREE STATE NOVA is an Irish wordsmith here to primarily uplift people and squash the unseen energy vampires in all myriad forms. Making room to weave some modicum of hope and dignity Jinx is the dying light in the red leech face of disgraced solicitor contrite and pleading now no longer poster boy for the gimme gimmes, but he brings the message that one must try their best to FORGIVE THE C**TS and move upwards. These sounds are not just for those tired of listening to the empty heads, but also for the helicopter Icarus people who crash land back to d earth in these IDIOT TIMES.

A rare live outing for Conor Creaney’s electronic music project which is fairly unsurprising given that he spends ten months of the year living in NYC! That said, the lad is a bit of a legend as anyone who has seen him DJ down the years will readily agree… He’s got an ear for a tune so this performance will be well worth catching.
