Phizzfest 2012: 3epkano, Dublin Guitar Quartet, Cian Nugent, Cat Dowling & more, 1st – 9th September

The Phizzfest Community Arts Festival returns to Phibsboro next month, with performances from 3epkano, Dublin Guitar Quartet, Cian Nugent, Katie Kim, Glimmermen, Cat Dowling, Barry McCormack & more.

On The Corner – Doyle’s, Mc Geough’s, the Hut, Woodstock Café September 6th from 7.30pm
The centrepiece of our music programme. Doyle’s corner, for many Dubliners, the site of an eternal traffic jam, will, for one evening, be the location for a festival experience for which you won’t need wellies and where you can drink out of a real glass at normal prices. Eight acts, four venues, one ticket : Katie Kim, Glimmermen, Ciara Sidine, Barry McCormack, Clara Rose, Cat Dowling, Let’s Get Lost and The Lee Harveys; country to punk, loud to quiet and back again. 

3epkano/ Murnau’s Faust – Roof Terrace, Broadstone Hall September 1st 9pm
Open air cinema on the roof of an award winning building, looking out over Phibsboro’, with a showing of Murnau’s 1926 classic silent version of Faust, and a live soundtrack by 3epkano.

Western Shores – Tom Portman and Peadar King – The Hut September 1st 9pm
Drawing on the tradition of his native Inishbofin and from further west – the ‘next parish’ – Peadar King, along with Tom Portman, will play songs from their recent albums, Shadowlands, and At One.

Dublin Guitar Quartet – All Saints’ Church September 4th 8pm
The Dublin Guitar Quartet have greatly expanded the repertoire for the classical guitar by commissioning new works and adapting modern music, by composers such as Glass, Reich, Part and Ligeti. Expect an exciting and challenging evening.

Cian Nugent –All Saints’ Church September 5th 8pm
Continuing our mini-guitar fest within a festival, on Wednesday 5th, Cian Nugent will bring his folk, blues and beyond stylings to All Saints’.

Clé Club – Phibsborough House September 5th 9pm
Poet Macdara Woods, piper Neilidh Mulligan and many others feature as the Clé Club makes a welcome return to Phizzfest.

Traditional Arts Collective – Doyle’s September 8th –from 8.30pm
Rounding off the music programme at Phizzfest 2012, the Traditional Arts Collective (TAC) bring their 21st century notion of the céili to Doyle’s.
