The list of bands to be featured in DCTV‘s upcoming series Community Of Independents has been announced. Patrick Kelleher & His Cold Dead Hands, Axis Of, Lafaro, Owensie, Windings & Junior 85 will play Whelans on September 6th, with each bands performance recorded for the series.
This Is Our Six Minutes Of Independents
The 6 selected acts in DCTVs innovative music series, Community of Independents, will perform in Whelans of Wexford Street on Tuesday 6th September.
Dublin Community Television (DCTV) in partnership with First Music Contact (FMC) have been funded by the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland (BAI) to make a television series exploring Independent Music in Ireland and the different layers that make up this essential and fruitful community. Created and produced by Barry Lennon of Richter Collective this phase of the project is the result of a huge response to the call out for bands to tell their story.
A panel of people involved in the Independent Music Community including Angela Dorgan (FMC) , Michael Roe (Richter Collective) and Niall Byrne (Nialler 9 Blog) selected the six stories from more than 40 applicants that they felt best represented this community. We are glad to announce these acts:

- Axis Of
- Lafaro
- Owensie
- Windings
- Junior 85
Tickets are €5 and went on sale today at the WAV box office. Each bands’ performance will be featured in the programme, along with interviews “exploring the changing music scene and how these acts are adapting and developing their own support structures“.
