Your favourite players..... (1 Viewer)

In fairness to yongvay, he's one of the most naturally talented of all the shread guys. Even when he's playing fast, which is most of the time, there's still a great feel to the way he plays. Shame most of his music is so ridiculous.

I tend to like players with a certain attention to detail.

Bernard Butler - On the first 2 suede albums. Going solo was a big mistake
Jimmy Page
Johnny Marr - Love the guitar on the Smiths records, after that, forget it.
Keef & Mick Taylor era stones
Nile Rogers
The guitars on the first Garbage record. Lots of little hooks and details. Not so much the sounds though. A little too processed.
Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Me fav new-ish player
Jimi Hendrix - More for his clean souly playing Like on the Axis bold as love record.
SRV - Serious blues rock guitarist.
Dimebag Darrell from Pantera
John Squire - On the 1st stone roses album
Joe Satriani
Kevin Shields - for the noise

after being a fan for a few years in my teens i spent many years dissing jimmy page and his guitar playing but i like him again now. his rhythm playing in particular is superb, and of course his riffing. the soloing is hit and miss. i still cant get over how robert plant was allowed to keep his job in that band. rain song has such beautiful playing on it - well crafted but not too showy - and theres plant fucking pissing all over it

Yep Bernard Butler (same era) and Johnny Marr are two of my personal favourites. Kristin Hersh is also one of my favourite guitarists, quite individual.
