words you hate the most (1 Viewer)

All the businessy ads on newstalk

"grow the business" etc
Also marketing waffle.

And, until half 12 tomorrow, strategic management waffle.

"headquartered"

It's like these people have never read a style guide.

AVOID CLICHES
AVOID COLLOQUIALISMS
seriously, I spend more time on this bartleby page than I care to admit.
Considering the lengths 9-year-old ICUH8N went to in order to learn this language, you'd think people would make more of an effort, but no.

Die roaring.

kids in my school say "can you higher it up miss?" when they want the volume turned up. RAAAHHHH!!!

I hate that one too. I know plenty of adults who use it, and dont beilive you when you try to explain that its the wrong word

"were in the business of providing solutions for a dynamic business environment."

Cunts.

Whats worse are the foreign property ads.

not a word, but this is the most annoyibng thing ever. Me and my mate were singing the ghostbusters tune one night, when i realised he was adding in an extra note.

Where the song goes:
::clef:: "deh neh neh neh, neh neh, deh neh neh neh neh neh..." ::clef::

he was going:
::clef:: "deh neh neh neh, neh neh neh, deh neh neh neh neh neh..." ::clef::

that still gets me.

it's not just one word but i hate the end of ads for mortgages:

"regulated by the irish financial regulatory authority" - can they not just abbreviate it? it's like the actress who is saying it is trying to break a world record in how quickly she can say that stupid stupid regulatory authority's name. aaarrrrggghhhh!!!!

i also hate the word gee.

^^ that one always reminds me of "Cheques will not be honoured" from the Krustyburger ad

Pacific

As in:

"I PACIFICally told him not to do that."

"Could you be a bit more PACIFIC please?"

I recently used specifically in a sentence only to find myself corrected by someone whose exaggerated enunciation of "pacific" was an attempt both to enlighten and also to infer that I was retarded.

Also cocktease. In films, in conversations, whatever, that word is rage-inducing.
