i know several women who are big fans of captain beefheart.

I know...one girl who likes his stuff. I had a load of his stuff on my mp3 player but I lost it before I had a chance to really get into it (er, yeah, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) I can't say I dislike them anyway...er...I'll come back to this when I have something definitive to say, but I don't usually think gender-based generalisations about music are very fair.
