Im looking for Reels suitable for a tascam 2 track reel to reel machine.
Anybody know where I can purchase them. thanks.

Well for example the guy from Fly Pan Am gets a really cool kind of sparks noise or something like that by rubbing a piece of tinfoil off part of the reel. But its much for complex than that and I would like to know how its done.

I must also work out how to do loops successfully. You can get some really cool clicks and pulses by feeding it back into itself, I cant get it loud enough though.

People use pencils (or drumsticks for 2") and hold them out of the machine that way. You might need an extra pair of hands or two.

Dunno about tin foil, though. There's not much chance of me letting flakes of tin foil clog up the insides of my machine

I dont understand what you mean by holding drumsticks or pencils OUT of the machine. where abouts do you stick them in?

Well, if you want to play a 5 second loop, and your machine runs at 15 inches per second, then you'd need a loop of tape 75 inches long.. you'd have to run it around the room a bit to play it back.

Maybe we're talking about different kinds of loop here
