all these singer songwriters, all these bleepy nerd bastards ... when was the last time a show actually rocked you? like you came away going "fuck me, that was amazing!" and spent the rest of the night thinking about it? it used to happen to me, oooooo, say 4 or 5 times a year, now it hardly ever happens. where did it all go wrong?

last one was golden 08/02

one before that was zu/guapo/j.cake 01/02

why?

you standards are far too high. that's what comes from listening to all them Scorpions records.

Don't worry bout it. You may be going limp. It happens in looooong relationships. Your needs are no longer being met. You need more excitement for a hard on. So just take some viagra fo the music. Who would that be though?;)

Three weeks ago in Galway. Can't remember the name of the band... only the lead singer (friend of a friend). Really good music, pity I can't remember the name. Doh!

I'm going for coffee now....

uptown raquet club at wonky2 - mainly 'cos i wasn't expecting them to sound like that. rokkin. still the only time i've seen them though so dunno if it'd get repetitive - i hopes not.

joan of arse at the xfm thingy too - again i didn't expect them to sound like that - really threatening stuff. and they have two bassists .|..|

i think the more gigs you go too the more it takes to impress?
as well, at a guess haggy, i'd say you're more selective than most.

i really don't think that's it. i'm not clever enough to be selective anyway, i like a bit of everything. ahem ;). i think people have just forgotten what it means to be actually *rocked* by something, for something to actually blow your socks off, for you to say there's nowhere else on earth i'd rather be right now .... you know what i mean? the fugazi show ... that'll be exactly what i'm talking about if the venue doesn't fuck it up... just music that makes your heart beat faster, makes you excited, oh i dunno any more... i'm sure as hell not turn to the dark side though, cut off me ears first i will...

reply to dan:

that's more what i'm talking about, i'd say that was pretty kewl. not talking about liking something because you didn't expect a band to be a certain way but because they took you somewhere else for the 40 odd minutes, somewhere no one else could because what they were sharing with you was truel their's to share ... not because they sounded slightly like 20 other similarly uninspiring rip-off merchants...

Deputy Fuzz doing an afternoon gig with the Corpo on a sunny saturday a while back. Instead of pushing the usual heavy drums grinding guitars rock buttons they blew it all up using spiky needle thin guitars and biscuit tin drumming and crazy ass squeaky voices.

Most times a good rocking comes in the most unexpected way.

Tara Jane O'Neil as well, that was well intense
