i dont see a point in listing 12 albums one user after another, at least without saying something about them. it just turns into an endless text list of words that might or might not be music - but in any case will not be worth wading through - unless people actually say a little about each thing they listened to... any chance anyone else might describe what they are listening to??

still agree. my fault. should have said more than 'slint-related' when i bumped the thread.

re: Mac DeMarco

I'm liking the new album but there's nothing on it that immediately grabs me like the stuff off his first:

I just listened to Lying In A Deathbed by Jape for the first time in a while
Seeing him sing that at Cass McCombs was one of the highlights of last year.
Can't fathom why it wasn't put on his album

since seeing the slint film:
slint - tweez/spiderland
breeders - pod
squirrel bait - skag heaven
bastro - diablo guapo/sing the troubled beast
gastr del sol - serpentine similar
maurice - the first shall be last
seam - the problem with me
bedhead - what fun life was
the for carnation - flight songs

I find it strange that I killed this thread for two years, then this Slint film, which I was at, resurrected it. Not only that but I downloaded Skag Heaven and Diablo Guapo in the direct aftermath of watching Breadcrumb Trail.

Aaaaand then yesterday I realised (while listening to Spiderland on Spotify) that the .mp3 of Nosferatu Man that I've been listening to more than a decade is weirdly truncated and misses the last minute-plus and the whole bit at the end rather than just stopping dead and going into Don, Aman like I thought it did.

Universe, eh?

I've been lapping them up.

Lots of attitude.

I don't really know what to make of them. I'm not normally into ranting but it's quite compelling. TBH I'm probably not hard enough to listen to this kind of thing.

That's your call.

And this is for that other thread, but you should listen to the second half of this podcast

It's all about that Poptimism thing. After the Captain America part.

Just thinking that you might already know about it, given its name.

Cool, will listen later. There's been a fair bit of complaining about that poptimism article in my music journo twitter feed, lack of sources and stuff.

Been listening to The Fat White Family a lot. This tune has been lodged in my head for weeks. Going to see them soon. Their live show is supposed to be quite something. Video NSFW.
