I bought the new Current 93 album, Black Ships Ate The Sky on the way home.

Have a splitting headache for the last two hours but got through half of it. Pretty good.

tibet has a very ideosyncratic vocal style and surreal lyrical content which may grate on many, but this album is one of his strongest. the version of "idumea" sung by clodagh simmons is my favourite track on it, though the versions by pantaleimon and the really vulnerable, moving one by shirley collins come close. the guitar line on "bind your tortoise mouth" is gorgeous as well.

It's just finishing off now.
Shirley Collins doing Idumea.

Great to hear her voice again.
She's made some fantastic records.

absolutely, "the true love knot" was wonderful. hearing the age in her voice on that track is a lovely thing.

dug this out, dusted it off and gave it a spin this evening.

So whats this like? I'm afraid to hear it in case its a stinker.

Worth the $12.
Pretty strong. All Those Years is a deadly ballad while Perfect Stranger and Decaf are insanely catchy.

In my opinion it's the best of the three post-1996 albums. Doesn't compare with the amazing first five albums but you can't expect that.

Would love to see them tour.

Deadly sleeve too.
