Altered states, excellent for the most part, drags a bit coming up near the end though. 8.5/10

The way of the gun.
Story about two small time crook's who kidnap the pregnant surrugate mom to a very powerfull gangster. Sure mentioned it before, here. 8/10.

A classic of its type.
Nicky Katt has a deadly small part in this if I remember.
Sarah Silverman is good at the start too.

I gotta see this again, might torrent it tonight.

Watched the last two Bond films over the weekend. Action is decent, plot was non-existent particularly in Quantum of Solace, villians weren't up to much. Bond drives a Ford Mondeo in Casino Royale, utterly shocked and disgusted.

The action is a bit better than decent in Casino Royale I would have said.
The Mondeo did break the spell a little in fairness.

I liked Quantum okay enough, a little Olga Kurylenko goes a long way with me.
I just kinda wished it wasn't water they were nicking though. I kinda didn't care if they nicked it or not.

Winters Bone

Like Fargo or any Terrance Malik film Winters Bone's setting plays nearly as big a role in the story as the charachters. Set in a freezing backwater where seemingly everyone is related to each other and addicted to meth, the dirt, cold and poverty comes seeping out of the screen and genuinely affects you as a viewer long before the harshness of the story does (or at least it did for me anyway) this is bleak stuff played to perfection by all involved. The pace is deliberately slow and it builds not nessicarily tension but a kind of inevitablity to its descent into absolute grimness. Hard to watch but difficult to look away from. Well worth a look if you want to harsh your buzz of a rainy tuesday.

Yeah, thats a great film. Your one playin' the lead role was something else.

I watched bits of Zodiac for the 3rd time in 5 weeks. Nice performances. Bit long.
There were similarities in the lower case r's....

zodiac is probably one of the best movies of the last 10 years. I'm not even joking.
Not many people liked it on release as it was a Fincher vehicle and there were certain expectations attached to it.
The more I watch that movie the more I love it. I think, if anything, it's too short.
I could totes watch men shuffling about an office with typewriters for hours on end.

I would prefer it to any of his other ones. Great stuff.

Easy A.

It was this or Black Swan
And I felt like something unchallenging.
She's a fine comedy actress - no mean feat.
And Stanley Tucci is, as ever, impeccable.

I agree on both counts. I think overall the movie was quite weak, but I thought she was great. And there were a few surprisingly hilarious laugh out loud moments for me, too.

Maniac- 7.5/10

I wished they made the sequal - looked creepy as hell. I was actually at a Horror Fest in London when Buddy G (of Combat Shock Fame) screened the show reel:
