Who would you rather?

Enda any day, it's a point of principle. The very idea of royalty needs to be destroyed. Abdicate or off with your head!

The common weath or realm or whatever mostly represents impereal colonialism the huge drive for the UK's effort basically shortly following Columbus discovery which was also a major factor in why the English monarchy broke from Rome.
I guess you have to admire the British tenacity to a certain extent but it would also seem a very outdated model in fairness.

The idea popped into my head Saturday as I thought over the implications for us of a Brexit. As the link shows some people take it rather seriously, I must read their arguments.

Wouldn't the stuff that we got from the 1949 act mean that the Irish in Britain and our right to travel/work/live would still be ok?

The Brits seem to be the only ones where the monarchy is taken seriously/is a bone of contention, the rest of Europe seems quite chilled about their ones. The egalitarian socialist Swedes surprisingly so.

Be fucked if I'm accepting it. The very concept of royalty bleeds into society and poisons it. Know your betters, do as you are told, you're just a worthless commoner at the end of the day.

Poisons society is a bit strong no? Europe has 12 monarchies, none of those societies seem any worse than their non-monarchical neighbours.

The monarchy is plain silly. Like the church. It's a goddamn anachronism.

Some people like the tradition, pomp and what have you. Once the monarch is politically powerless and the people don't mind let them at it.

I can't believe I'm sticking up for monarchies... Where will it end?

I can't see any of that changing, there's bound to be some economic fallout though, they're our biggest trading partner, you'd have to hope that wouldn't be too negatively affected.
