US Presidential Elections 2008 (9 Viewers)

no vinnie thats not my entire argument,i recognise his orating skills and the fact that hes seen as a breath of fresh air in american politics but at the same time its still politics and theres only so much any one person can do no matter how good their intentions.
i still stand by tax cuts,if im earning €100,000 and paying 5% tax that equals €5000 in tax, a person earning €20000 and paying a higher tax rate say 10% pays €2000 in tax even though im on a lower tax band im still paying more in taxes.
if so many republicans are deserting mccain why is it that obama only polls a few percentage points above him?some recent polls even give mccain a lead of up to five points (i cant remember for sure but if anyone really cares ill find the source this evening)

as for health care, like i said at the start im addressing issues that are important to the wider world, the american health system is a shambles and i really dont believe there is any over night solution to it.

I'm just quoting this for posterity. You are a fuckwit.

"Do you have your own words, maybe made into sentences?"

im making basic simple points, anything beyond that is unnecessay waffle

"Do you know that when we only outsource to poor countries, when those countries use that money to stop being so poor"

sounds suspiscously like trickle down economics at work.

"Do you actually know anything about the United States?"

please....

Indeed. However, your argument that McCain has the solutions to shit seems to support the idea that *he* can do a lot. McCain thinks anyone who earns less than $5m a year is a poor. He has no idea that the lives of the top 1% of the country are nothing like the other 99%. Same goes for the world.

The polls are a little more complex than that. No need to find a source. It's still a poll and still deeply flawed. There are boosts for each party following their respective party conventions. We really won't know this one until November.

Nice try. Why is it a shambles, do you think? Do you think it coud have something to do with being run by private, for-profit companies? Do you think that if the taxpayers had control over it (and not just the rich ones who can use their high-income low-tax lifestyles to pay for Botox) it would maybe be a wee bit better?

In fact! The health care system in many ways embodies the idea of the trickle-down. Which is why so many homeless vets die in their own piss.

trickle down effect- ...look at chinas growing middle classes.

It probably should be pointed out that China's economic growth hasn't been triggered by the "trickle down effect".
It's still a Communist economy and has simply adopted a very controlled capitalism. The vast majority of China's economic surge was before they adopted a "socialist market economy" in their ninth five-year plan. They quadrupled their 1980 GDP by 1996 - which is when the government decided to adopt this market economy.
Up until then, China adopted a commune approach - building the economy from the bottom up rather than a trickle down approach.

The Yuan was also pegged to other currencies meaning that they could sell their manufactured goods at a very low rate. And they have the largest internal market ever.
And lots and lots and lots of cheap labour.
And a government who will steamroll its people in to making sure the economy is successful.

Uhhh, sorry? To rob a line off everyone's favourite Corey, you sound like you're falling down a hill.

Sentences are needless waffle? I am having some difficulty making sense of your arguments, what with your minimalist style of syntax that looks like it was passed through Babelfish three or four times. I'm merely asking you to clarify, perhaps by taking advantage of the human sentence, popularly used for written communication and discourse.

I'm serious, though -- if your points can not only be tested against real-life situations, they're too precarious even to be put into sentences, how can they stand up at all?

And my point about trickle-down economics is not what you're quoting there, but nice little try. If you were any smarter, I'd be kind of annoyed about that. I don't understand how your economic arguments bear any relation to reality, and seemingly, neither do you. No wonder you like the candidate who says little beyond, "Ugh, my opponent is SOOOO lame."

Finally, given that this is an election for president of the United States of America, knowledge of that country is somewhat relevant to any argument about who should lead it.

I'd express relief that I can vote in this election and that you cannot, but in fact, there are many people of your ilk back in the old country, and they are one of the reasons McCain is not totally falling on his face yet. If only! Relief! It could be so sweet! Alas. Reality. Not so sweet. Unsettling.

thats a reasoned argument if ever i heard one.

It's obvious to everyone but you.

I'm guessing, too, that you're closer to the €20,000 wage bracket than the €100,000 one. If that's the case, you're suggesting that you should pay a higher rate of tax than somebody who's better off than you.

"Thank you sir, may I have another?"

[wallop]

I love the rich. They make me feel happy. Looking at riches makes me feel glad. Someday I will be rich. Let's help the rich because they will be nice to us, like in the fairy tales, when the poor child shows generosity to the rich child and is rewarded with a job cleaning a rich person's house instead of selling muck out of an old boot.

Hey is anybody else sort of sickened by the whole "First Lady" thing? Empowerment through pair bonding, chicken-style. Isn't that sort of like a monarchy? eugh

Michelle Obama giving speeches at the convention--sure she's a smart lady, whatever. Why doesn't she run for president then? I don't like it.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. It is a strange quirk. Perhaps somebody more American could tell me if the First Lady was always such a high-profile figure? It does seem like a retrograde kind of cod female empowerment wrapped in a cosy family values blanket that would annoy me somewhat if I were an American woman.

Martha Washington sewed the first flag.

Wasn't it Eleanor Roosevelt? It's no worse than handing-down-of-power from father to son, I suppose, a la the Bush family. But at least Jeb, Dubya and co. had to at least pretend to be politicians at some point. Family and power - not a good mix.

im taking advice from "i talk shite" and editing my thoughts hence the short bulletin style points, thats all.
and yes jane your right,my economic arguments bear no relation to reality, conveniently ignoring the fact that as good as the whole world has signed up to such economic policies, how more realistic do you want?
city sickness, what is so hard to understand about taxes?i did not come up with the tax system but i have no problem paying a higher tax rate than better off people,im still safe in the knowledge that they still pay more actual hard cash in taxes than i do,its that simple.
i have spent 3/4 years studying every economic theory that i could find info on and at the end of all this i arrived at the conclusion that the friedman/chicago school of economics is my preferred choice,im not here to convert anyone and im not going to be converted unless anyone can offer me a new theory on economics?id love to hear one cause i recognise no system is perfect.

Obama's running scared now: Daddy Yankee is supporting McCain.

So you more or less share the same economic views that Barack Obama has?:
