I decided it would be a good idea to do this over the weekend. 32 bit wasn't using the full capacity of my motherboard, video cards etc.

I remembered very quickly why I got out of IT support back in the late 90's - the pain! But it is done, 2 days of restarting later.

But... Windows can't find my optical drive.

Going to take a look at the BIOS later but if I need to get another where is the best place to buy?

Also, I want to add some more RAM. Used to always order from Komplett - is there somewhere better?

actually i paid £95 for this back in march but it's down to £68 now

i got another pair from Crucial for 63 in August, using a promo code that still works - INSIDER5

Thanks guys!

A bit more messing, a few more restarts, and I now have a working optical drive again. The sense of relief and achievement you get DIY computing when you finally get it sorted!

I normally went for Kingston RAM, is Crucial better?
