i dont see why not, you are paying their network charges, no harm in asking anyway, on vodafone.ie once you login, there is a section where you can do this yourself, not sure on other providers websites.

I've tried in the past to unlock Nokia's using those calculators and not one of them worked (or I was too stupid to use them properly). Remember, there's a max (5 i think) on doing those 'soft' unlocks. Reach the golden number and you'll have to pay a visit to your local chinese mobile phone shop to get it unlocked through their hardware (possibly just a nokia cable + software).

As schmegeggin said, you can ring up customer care of whichever operator and get it unlocked. I haven't seen the conditions which right fully allow you to get the unlocking code but it was something along the lines of: Pre-paid phones must've been topped up with at least 100/120 euro in their lifetime and with contract phones it was until the contract expired (usually a 12 month job).
