UNCONVENTION BELFAST 2011
MUSIC. MEDIA. MINDS. MEETING.

Are you an aspiring or already established ARTIST/ MUSICIAN/ JOURNALIST/ CREATIVE? Well, here's something we think you'll be interested in!

UnConvention returns to Belfast with the aim of inspiring a new generation of the music industry.

After its successful debut in Belfast which took place in 2009, the global grassroots music event UnConvention returns to Spring & Airbrake on 3-4 November as part of Belfast Music Week in association with MTV.

Taking place during a week when the spotlight will be shining brightly on the Northern Irish Music scene, UnConvention aims to be a platform from which local creative energies can be showcased.

The event also provides an opportunity to discuss and debate cutting edge issues with interesting and innovative thinkers in music. Encouraging interaction and collaboration with those in the independent and major sectors of the industry, their experience being shared should help boost the music industry in Northern Ireland.

UnConvention boasts an impressive and exciting line up of guest speakers such as:

Dick Miller from Rightsman is an International Marketing Director, providing campaign and strategy management for artists and labels who are looking to maximise opportunities internationally. Dick has worked artists including Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Jay Sean and Bowling for Soup. From selling LPs in the back of his car to brokering record deals in Tokyo, Dick has a wealth of experience in both the independent and major sectors.

David Riley set up Good Lizard Media in 2009 after working as Head of Digital for Cooking Vinyl. Good Lizard plan and manage digital campaigns for artists and brands like The Prodigy, Tinie Tempah, Suede and Roots Manuva.

Keith Harris has worked with some of the world’s best selling artists including Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Keith will provide a fascinating insight into the industry and how it’s changed in his experience.

Other guests featured: Ollie Clueit (Anorak London), Matt McBriar (Feel My Bicep), Brett LeBoff (Monumental Music Group), Adrian Cooke (Norwich Sound & Vision) and Rosarie O’Sullivan (BrandAmp) and many more.

True to its name, UnConvention does not follow the traditional panel format, instead facilitating informal networking, workshops and participant led panels. Discussion topics will include:
• Success through failure – how entrepreneurs have used their mistakes to succeed.
• The Dick Whittington story – is it necessary to move to London to sustain a career in the music industry?
• Band to fan models – is there a need for traditional labels?

The future of the Northern Irish music industry is in your hands so REGISTER HERE to attend UnConvention Belfast 2011, contribute with your ideas and equip yourself with the knowledge to succeed.
