Press Release:

The King Kong Club Winners 2007
The Tonics release their debut single!

Dublin 4 piece The Tonics release the fruits of their King Kong Club prize on Saturday 2nd February with a live show launch in The Sugar Club.
"You Dont Know Me" is a digital download release - available through www.sonicpollen.com - which sees the Dubliners hone their classic 70's rock influences into a dynamic slice of contemporary pop with a razor sharp edge. The boys have been gigging furiously since they won a hotly contested King Kong Club final in Pravda back in the Summer and prestigious shows in The Village and Eamonn Dorans have set their sound up perfectly for a sonic assault on the nations ears. The band constantly exude the kind of passion and commitment to their craft that saw them stomp their way mercilessly through the opening rounds of King Kong Club battle of the bands competition and when the final arrived The Tonics were a like a wound up coil ready to spring. With a super solid rhythm section, an ambidextrous guitarist and most importantly, a front man who lives for his music and the stage to express it, The Tonics are just that.

Bio:

It all started two and a half years ago when a group of Dublin lads began meeting up regularly for jamming sessions where they combined their passion for music with a few beers. What started out as a hobby soon developed into something more as the guys began to really gel musically. Ideas were discussed, dreams shared and a potential future in the music industry was realised.
In March 2007 the band were introduced to fellow Dubliner Stephen Hogan an experienced guitarist and lyricist. Stephen brought a new structure and confidence to the group that allowed for more direction and a clearer outlook for the future.
After playing only a few gigs around Dublin the Tonics found that they had already developed a solid reputation and a loyal fan base with numerous hits on their my space page each day.
A King Kong Club Battle of the Bands competition was a real high point for the Tonics. They thundered their way through the various stages and were eventually announced as overall winners, the prize being the chance to record their first single with launches in both Dublin and London.
November saw the original drummer Dan part ways with the Tonics as he felt his work commitments might hold the band back. Friends of the Tonics suggested John Warner as Dan's replacement and after just one session with the band the Tonics knew they had found what they were looking for and the deal was sealed.
Christmas 2007 saw the band play two major Dublin venues – Mc Grudders and The Village. The success of these gigs made it clear that this new formation was working that they had found the sound they were looking for. The growing popularity of the Tonics combined with their passion and creative energy means that not only is the future looking bright but that they are guaranteed to make a serious impact on the Dublin & International music scenes in 2008.

2008 sees the band release their first single "You don't know me" at the Sugar Club in Dublin and the prestigious Notting Hill Arts Centre in London.
