So I just read that they are re releasing the original Star Wars on DVD without the appalling CGI (well actually Empire Strikes Back Is Perfect).

But I was wondering is there any plans to re release the original THX 1138 without those horrible CGI monkey's at the end. Perfect film without those fucking monkeys.

cgi monkeys? when did lucass do that? bin a while since ive seen it but as i remember he crawls out of a hole into the wasteland..so is there monkeys leppin around when caan gets out?

My 2-Disc version (cover has a bald person with a tag in their ear) has the remastered edition (85 minutes, much better sound, but with the CGI additions) on Disc 1, and the original student film (Electronic Labyrinth THX1138 4EB) as well as Bald and some documentary stuff about Zoetrope etc on Disc 2.

Make of that what you will...

the monkeys are like 2 minutes before he climbs out of the hole. I just want a monkey free version, then it would be perfect.

just to add to all this talk:
in 2007 all 6 star wars movies will start getting rereleased to cinemas...in 3D. i assume it will be one a year, to string the profits out a bit more.

no guff, it's the new big thing. there has been a gradual shift towards 3d, and 3d imax versions of movies as a way to combat hdtv and dvds. the next james cameron movie is going to be 3d imax.

not to mention all the busy cgi shit going on in the background to make it more futuristic looking. made it look like a computer game if you ask me

Having not seen the original I can honestly say that those shitty monkeys were the only thing that blatantly stood out. THought the rest was done very well.

Empire Strikes Back redo is the only thing that I think enhances the original movie.
