Thumped Kris Kindle Remix signup (1 Viewer)

I'm sure once people put the files up there they'd be up for it

you should write a song especially for it, like a Song For Europe, A Song For Thumped... possible titles...

"My Heart Is Full Of Rep for You"

"I'm You're Private Messager"

"Everyones Says I Love You (On a Poll On The Lifestyle Board)"

thats what i'll do this weekend.

OK need to sort out who can submit a multi-track session, and who just wants to re-mix without submitting...then we can sort out the lottery...maybe if everyone posts something like this...

Beanstalk:
  • Will submit WAVs for 1 original song (recorded @ 48k)
  • Will remix someone else's song (recorded @ either 44.1k or 48k)

If there's not enough songs to go round, then I can probably submit two multitrack if needs be.

ME:
nothing to submit at the moment.
will remix 44.1KHtz & 48KHtz

also,
can we add more stuff too it or are we makin this a bit more of a challenge buy only beingallowed to use the original wavs supplied, more manipulation and effort etc..

I'd say no adding.
As in no overdubs.
But sample replacement/augmentation is ok if that's your bag.

I think some ammount of over dubs... a little...

Ask yourself, what would Warn from His Name Is Alive do...

o: remixes! you recently did a remix for thurston moore on root.

Warn Defever: yeah, that was a good one. that was the first remix i ever did where i did the remix without listening to what they sent before i did it. it was the first remix i did that contained no elements of the original tape.

o: thats what i was going to ask you about!

wd: it was the first remix i ever sang on.

o: so not only did it contain no original elements, but you actually sang on it. what was i you were supposed to remix?

wd: what he sent out was 30 different one-minute guitar pieces.

o: guitar excerpts that you didnt use. so what did you do instead?

wd: i sang and played guitar. and theres my interpretation of what i think thurston moore should be doing in 1999.

o: kind of like a tribute to him rather than a remix?

wd: it was more for his education. it was more like a subtle hint.

o: did he realize that thats what you did?

wd: i dont know. i have not gotten a response.

o: did the record label Lo realize what you did?

wd: no.

o: so they thought it was a remix.

wd: where remixes are at this point in time is so open to interpretation. like me, i would consider that a remix, although technically nothing was ever remixed.

o: i wonder what thurston would say about that one. i would seriously be interested in his response. im sure he listened to it. he probably thought, "he must have really strangely fit in something in a very suble way."

wd: right. it turned out real good, i think.

why. he sounds like a twat

that guy sounds like a complete and utter bag of twat.

see?

Damo knows the story

hows about do whatever you want with it. like a remix:confused:

i think it should be old school. no additions of anything. just lots of resampling and stuff. ye might as well do a cover version instead, a lazy one where ye cant even be bothered to record yer own drums so ye just rob the originals. gnome sane?

sorry i dont.no way. you do an interpretation of the tune. thats it . rules are for schools

I think you should be able to add what you want...but try to at least use the main hook, be it vocal, guitar or synth line, so the tune is identifiable. I can't see any good reason to confining yourself to the original WAVs, bar showing off what processing tricks you can pull off. If that's your bag, then do it, but it doesn't have to be a rule for everyone.

That interview with Warn from His Name Is Alive do is class. :D
