It’s some manner of division/subsidiary of Volvo. A relative worked for polestar for a while and they were VERY keen not to be associated with Volvo.
You're no volvo
the wikipedia entry for polestar states they're still nearly 50% owned by volvo.They no longer have anything to do with them.
They were a sub brand but all they took is a minor design influence.
Safety and build quality of polestar is not as good as Volvo

If you buy a polestar is it a Volvo with different bling, or is it 100% a different chassis, drive train and factory.
Because like if you were buying a Volvo in recent years ( @Deadmanposting ) you are largely buying a ford engineered thing*
*Then of course ford subbed out engine design to mitsubishi at times....
