Fucking Excellent. Having not seen the original (Infernal Affairs) to its conclusion due to exhaustion, I can't say which I liked better, but this is certainly a kick ass movie. Amazing cast and amazing performances. It's about 3 hours (yeah it's Scorsese) but it doesn't feel long whatsoever. Absolutely loved it.

The only part I didn't like was the last 10 seconds, but I'm not going to get pissy about 10 seconds.

i would advise everyone to see Infernal Affairs before seeing scorcese's take.

IA is a deadly film. im dubious about HK cop movies getting teh hollywood treatment but ill go check it out

yeah there are some changes in it - but for the most part it's fairly true to it. but obviously it's an adaptation. definitely worth watching. Alec Baldwin is fucking deadly in it too.. which is nice to see.

Just back from seeing this. You're right about the final shot Avernus but it doesn't hurt the film.

I enjoyed it a lot but I didn't love it. It needed a touch more of the Goodfellas energy to it.

I've never seen a movie with so many phonecalls in it and so many people getting shot in the head!

scorcese's been stumped every oscars recently - do you reckon this one will ring the bell for him?

oh, and does it have this classic scene in it like the original?

infernal affairs 2 sucked ass though!

sequels generally do. it doesnt take away from the sheer awesomeness of IA one, though.

i'd highly recommend Election as the new cop/triad movie to watch. election II is out but i havent see it yet.

anyway scorcese raped the box office at the weekend. very high takings.

no your right IA one kicked serious bum! Hope the departed lives up to the hype

I went to see this last night and loved it, even the ending. I think it's his best work since Casino and as with all the old Scorcesse films it has the perfect balance of dialogue, acting, violence, humour and music. Hopefully it gets him the oscar but I recon he'll porobably have to wait for the honourary lifetime one. Jack Nicholson is a good bet on best supporting actor though.

I don't remember any of the famous Scorcesse long, one take, steady cam shots in this film, was there any???

As for Infernal Affairs well I wear glasses when I go to the cinema but forgot them when I went to see it so after a while I couldn't tell the two lads apart so it kind of ruined then film for me

there was a short tracking shot near the beginning.
he's over used that rolling stones song that he used in casino (and which was also in that bard pitt beer ad - coincidentally brad co-produced the film - now there's an inside job!!)

I thought this was really good. Jack chewed up the scenery a bit but Di Caprio, Wahlberg, Damon and Bladwin were good.

I possibly enjoyed it more than IA because I wasn't distracted from the performances by drunkenly having to read subtitles.

****SPOILERS***********

-Di Caprio can't play tuff guys, totally unconvincing.
-...as was Ray Winstone's accent
-Awful fucking soundtrack. Van Morrison singing "Comfortably numb" ? Comfortably corpulent. And that horrible celtic-rawwk thing with the bagpipes. For fuck's sake.
-By the end of the film, I didn't give a shit who was shot, alive, dead or a rat or whatever. A few ludicrous twists too many.
-Ngeh.
-Bah.

we watched all 3 infernal affairs films in a row from 11pm one night of smoking. halfwaqy through the second one, it became very hard to remember who was who coz they all look the same when you have to squint to see the tv.

not a racist

also the fact that the timeline jumped alot, thus confusing the shit out of my fragile binned mind.

looking forward to this departed film anyway

I enjoyed the hell out of The Departed. All the cast were great. I liked the soundtrack. And Mr. DiCaprio... by the end of the movie I had developed a fully-fledged crush on him, the likes of which I haven't known since I was a teenager. What a ride.

ya he's pretty hott in it.
