I saw this place on Dawson St. today called Fixx Coffee House which has apparently been there since last summer but I never noticed it. Anyway, seems decent enough, big and spacious with lots of tables, bookshelves down the back, serious looking portraits on one wall, not too hip. I stayed for an hour reading my biography of Freud and just had the one coffee, no pressure to leave at all. I suspect this is because it has enough tables that theres always somebody leaving to make room for anyone new. Somebody else down the back was reading Kafka and there was students at the next table studying and discussing their work in a language I didn't recognize. I didn't notice anyone reading Nietzsche but that could have been an oversight on my part.
