The yank is a big fan of the Hate Pinks who were a solid French band. Lost Boys were/are cool too. Not sure of any other quality bands out of France bar those two you mentioned.

pascal comelade / bel canto orchestra
video aventures
loads of jazz/improv
the drummer from headcleaner
