Anyone else like this guy's stuff?
Wasn't too keen on "Audition",but "Ichi The Killer" was amazing..liked the "Dead or Alive" ones and "Hapiness of the Kakaturis" was a laugh...but I saw "Visitor Q" yesterday and it cracked me up.,one of the craziest things I've ever seen.
Does anyone know if "Gozu" or "Zebraman" are coming out over here (IFI I presume?)?Are there other films of his floating around anywhere that i should know about?

full metal yakuza is supposed to be deadly. havent seen it yet though. funnily enough i think i spotted that in my local xtravision the other night!

oh by the way, had a look for my copy of torture garden and i couldn't find it. i actually think i lent it to someone ages and ages ago and never got it back off them.

reading 120 days of sodom at the moment, sick sick shit

Sick sick, shit.
Reminds me of Abu Ghraib prison. 'Cept worse, obviously.

haven't seen it yet

Not having read the book, I challenge you to watch the film and say it isnt more vile than it. I seriously felt dirty and sickened by the film for ages. I mean, it goes way, way beyond some of the more recent taboo busters like irreversible or whatever. Then, with time, I actually began to appreciate the film a bit and find a point in all the filth that it presents. It is mad harsh though. I'd be interested to know how you felt they compared. Not sure how easy it is to get Salo on tape or disc though. Is it still banned or...?

i'm pretty sure the book will beat it, there's fucked up shit in that that there's no way could end up in any film
yeah it's available on dvd in the uk, not sure if it's banned in ireland though
Casino, gis a lend of that!

Salo was on Film Four Extreme last year , prior to the film there was some critic giving a synopsis of the movie and warning that it is sick and shit .. most movies on Film Four Extreme are not extreme at all and usually have the same guy hyping the shit up before hand , but i was wrong !! , .. fucking sick stuff .. and i'd heard loads of people say it was really good there's no way you can walk away from the movie a better person . Although it was sick and i was repulsed i couldnt turn it off , wierd .. also i thought it was against the law to have kid's that young naked in films ? maybe they where not young at all but as far as i remember they where ..

Sci Fi plays a few Takashi Miike film's , i've seen Visitor Q , City Of lost Souls (crap) and Happiness Of The Katakuri's on it(except some wigga's came in while i was watching the latter and switched to MTV Hit's). I've seen Gozu which is the wierdest ever
Fudoh is a savage Miike film that is overlooked sometimes ..

Zebraman is out on dvd in japan this month so there should be copies floating around soon. It looks "interesting".

There was a trailer for Gozu at Fahrenheit 9/11 yesterday morning in UGC..

It was in japanese with no translation.. i presume it will be out soon. looks pretty crazy (and very low budget).. UGC has been getting some good films in lately. my unlimited card serves me well.

yeah, that was weird.
guy screaming, turns around, then a big camel slobers on his face

"Written by Ichi the Killer's Sakichi Sato, Gozu is less a transgressive bloodbath than an utterly bizarre excursion into almost Lynchian realms of post-logic. It's a film that will no doubt go down well with fans of Higuchinsky's Uzumaki, with its weird phenomena, thoroughly unpredictable storyline and detachment from genre. Pitting a virginal yakuza trainee against deranged suburbanites, a cow-headed demon and his own id, this is the film Hideaki Sunaga's Getting Wild With Our Monkey hoped to be"

sounds like fun!

there was a review of lightning bolt's wonderful rainbow on absorb ages ago that compared the album to a takashi miike movie. had the following classic:

you will be doing your shopping list or tying your shoelace, all unsuspecting, like a character in a takashi miike movie that has no idea the following scene will involve acupuncture, torture, a giant robot facefucking a grown man and a little boy in drag.
i've only seen 'happiness of the katakuris' but that was excellent.
