this is something that has really pissed me off recently.
last september/october i organised a battle of the bands in my area. i set it up so there was 4 bands a night, for 4 consecutive thursdays, and the final was the next thursday, comprised of the winners of each night.i spent about a month before getting bands, equipment rental, sponsorship and the venue sorted. the pub where i worked agreed to hold it, if the audience voted for the winning band each night. my boss organised a well known green beer company to sponsor it. i spend close to £250 of my own money making phone calls, deposits etc.
so itrs the final night and i have organised 5 judges to come. 2 arrive. my boss says 'oh i know a guy who'll do it and i'll sit in as a judge too!' (my boss is a v.good dj)
so the gig goes ahead: huge crowd, made enough money to recoup my investment etc....
shitest band won. why?
because my fucking manager and his friend took a bribe.
