I'm trying to compile a comprehensive list (for some reason). Here are a few I can think of.

The Divine Comedy - Sunrise
Paul Brady - The Island
Phil Coulter - The Town I loved So Well
Stiff Little Fingers - Suspect Device
Stiff Little Fingers - Alternative Ulster
Simple Minds - Belfast Child
The Dubliners - Free The People
U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday
The Pogues – Streets of Sorrow/Birmingham Six
Tommy Sands - There Were Roses
Black 47 - Bobby Sands, MP
Andy Irvine - Born In Carrickfergus
The Cranberries - Zombie
Sham 69 - Ulster
Marillion - Forgotten Sons
John & Yoko - Sunday Bloody Sunday

Ash - Uncle Pat (seriously - I think I remember Tim Wheeler saying that when it came out)

Wings - Give Ireland Back to the Irish

i kno a guy who had republican band that he formed and then left because they got too mainstream, but whatever thier name is thier well respected storytellers o'the troubles. i'm sure sinead o'connor has something, i have songs set in the troubles, oh and

community love song - the evangelists.

my uncle has a letter RTE sent him many years ago, informing him that contrary to reports going round, they had not banned a song his band had recorded, they had simply decided they would not play it due to the political content of the song. it was called something like 'the right to rule our destiny'.

Cellophane by That Petrol Emotion from End of the Millennium Pychosis Blues

Please by U2
So you never knew love until you crossed the line of grace
And you never felt wanted till you had someone slap your face
So you never felt alive until you almost wasted away

You had to win
You couldn't just pass
The smartest ass
At the top of the class
Your flying colours
Your family tree
And all your lessons in history

Please... please... please get up off your knees...
Please... please... leave me out of this
Please

So you never knew how long you'd stoop to make that call
And you never knew what was on the ground till they made you crawl
So you never knew that the heaven you keep you stole

Your catholic blues
Your convent shoes
Your stick on tattoos
Now they're making the news
Your holy war
Your northern star
Your sermon on the mount
From the boot of your car

Please...please... please get up off your knees
Please...please... leave me out of this please

So love is hard and love is tough
But love is not what you're thinking of

September... streets capsizing...
spilling over down the drain
...shards of glass splinters like rain
But you could only feel your own pain...
october... talking getting nowhere...
November... December... remember...
are we just starting again...?

So love is big bigger than us
But love is not what you're thinking of
It's what lovers deal it's what lovers steal
You know i've found it hard to recieve
Cause you my love I could never believe
